Choosing the right emergency plumber

Tim Graham

Have you ever heard that persistent drip drip of water as it runs through your ceiling and splashes into a puddle on the floor? Perhaps you have had the experience of coming home from a day out to find water running down your walls or advancing across the floor of your home? If you have ever had to cope with anything like that, then you will know the importance of having an emergency plumber available when you need one.

What causes leaks?

Sometimes water damage in your home may be caused by you forgetting to turn off a tap and allowing the water to overflow from the bath or sink. More commonly a flood in your home is the result of a broken or burst pipe on your property. A pipe can burst if it becomes frozen and expands, or it can burst as the result of a blockage in the water system leading to a buildup in water pressure. You should always be aware of the possibility of burst pipes and leakages. Look out for waterlogged areas on your property or noisy pipework around the home, as these could be signs that you have a leak. If you think that the water pump or toilet in your home is potentially clogged, then you should speak to a plumber at the earliest opportunity to prevent significant damage occurring in your home.

Choosing your plumber

When the worst happens and you discover that you need to call a plumber, then you don't want to have to spend hours researching potential plumbers. It is important that you are able to find the plumber you need quickly and with the minimum amount of hassle. Here are two things that you should look for when making your decision.

  1. Qualifications and accreditations - Your plumber must have the knowledge and the right to carry out the work that you need, so start by checking that they are licensed and experienced enough to do the work. If you have any doubts, then check with the relevant trade associations, who will be able to confirm if the plumber is listed with them.
  2. Insurance - Does the plumber have suitable insurance to cover any damage that may be caused by their work or their presence on your premises? Whenever you let tradespeople into your home, there is always the possibility that something could go wrong. Finding a plumber who is insured against these risks offers you peace of mind.

Researching a plumber carefully before you agree to hire them is the most effective way of ensuring you find the most suitable plumber to resolve your water emergency.

Hiring Contractors For Home Improvements

Hello! My name is Richard and this is my new blog. On this blog, I hope to pass on some useful information about how to work with contractors. I recently decided that I wanted to give my property a complete overhaul. I wanted to have a new roof installed, the interior remodelled and the driveway repaired. I asked around and I put together a great team of contractors who could all work together to get the job done. However, that isn't to say there wasn't the occasion challenge during such a big project. I learnt a lot from the experience and I am really pleased with the work that the contractors carried out.
